NEDS Horse Transport – Terms and Conditions

The parties to this agreement are:

        NEDS Horse Transport, referred to as Us, We, Our

        The individual who booked & paid for the horse(s) transport, referred to as You, Your

Payment must be made prior to travel, and in full if booking is less than 7 days from the agreed date of transport. By making payment you confirm that you agree to our terms and conditions.

1.  You are personally liable for your horse(s) in the event of injury or damage sustained to or by your horse(s)

2.  Reasonable wear & tear to our horsebox is expected and covered in our fee for transportation. You will, however, be liable to cover the cost of repair for any excessive damage to our horsebox caused by your horse(s). You will be invoiced for any excessive damage, and any such invoice will be due for payment on receipt. You can inspect the horsebox for any existing damage before the journey on request. We recommend that you have suitable insurance to cover your horse(s) including public & personal liability as well as vet cover for the duration of transport.

3.  We can carry tack (saddle & bridle), and 1 large bag/sack of rugs or other equipment. Extra charges will be applicable for anything additional based on weight. All tack and equipment is carried at your own risk.

4.  Please ensure when booking that consideration is given to suitable access for the horsebox. If we feel that a road is unsuitable or that there is insufficient room to maneuver safely and without damage being caused to our horsebox, then we reserve the right to request an alternative loading/un-loading area.

5.  Whilst every precaution will be taken to ensure a safe and comfortable journey, should your horse(s) become ill or very unsettled we reserve the right to contact the nearest vet for treatment or sedation if deemed necessary. You will be liable for all veterinary expenses, and any delay incurred for such treatment at the rate of £25.00 per half hour.

6.  The prices quoted are based on the information given by you at the time of booking. If that information is incorrect or changed and results in any additional journey time, this may result in extra charges.

7.  Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the journey is completed on time and in a safe manner, no responsibility will be accepted for any delays to the journey, and we reserve the right to choose the transport route as the shortest route is not always best for the horse’s comfort, or suitable for our horsebox.

8.  Your horse(s) must travel with their passport which must be given to the driver prior to the journey commencing. Your horse(s) will be offloaded if no passport is available, and there will be no refund of the transport fee.

9.  Any delay to the commencement of loading the horse(s) (including but not limited to; horse not caught & ready to load, wrong/insufficient location details provided etc.) will incur a charge to you of £12.50 per 15 minutes (or part thereof).

10.  Any delay to the commencement of the journey after horse(s) have been loaded (including but not limited to; mislaid or delayed passport/documentation, tack/equipment not ready to load etc.) will incur a charge to you of £12.50 per 15 minutes (or part thereof). 

11.  Fifteen minutes loading time is included in the quote. Should your horse(s) take longer to load, an additional fee of £12.50 per 15 minutes (or part thereof) will be charged to you. Should it not be possible to load your horse(s) after 1 hour, or you choose not to continue to attempt loading, then the loading will be aborted and there will be no refund of the transport fee.

12. You confirm that the horse(s) to be carried do load & travel without concern and will travel without company. It is your responsibility to inform us of any concerns prior to booking.

13.  It is your responsibility to load & unload your horses. NEDS Horse Transport will only assist you or your representative where necessary. We will not handle horses of a dangerous or damaging nature nor any horses suffering from infectious or contagious diseases or those who have been in contact with such animals. Any losses, injury or damage that is suffered from non-disclosure will result in compensation being paid by you.

14.  Loading must be performed in a calm and respectful manner. Forceful techniques, or any techniques liable to cause distress to the animal during loading, or during subsequent transport will not be allowed. Should the owner feel that this is the only course of action available to them, to load the horse, then NEDS Transport reserves the right to cancel the trip, with all fees being non-refundable.

15.  We reserve the right to return your horse(s) back to the pick-up address if we observe it displaying dangerous or damaging behaviour, either to itself, our property, or to us. We reserve the right to refuse to carry your horse(s) and any accompanying property if it cannot be done so safely. You will not be entitled to a refund.

16.  If the horsebox is booked for a show/competition/training/vet visit etc. there is a £20 per hour standing time payment. Any additional Standing time above that already included within the quotation, shall be paid on the day, and can be made by bank transfer or by cash.

17.  Transport that requires me to leave my base before 7 am will incur a surcharge of £25. Returning to base after 6 pm is subject to a surcharge of £25.

18.  Urgent call outs during the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday will incur a call out fee of £75 and £1.75 per mile round trip for mileage during the hours of 8am and 6pm, and £2.00 for any mileage that extends beyond 6pm. Urgent call outs at any time during Weekends, Bank Holidays, or between the hours of 6pm and 8am Monday to Friday will incur a call out fee of £100 and £2.00 per mile round trip. If an urgent call out requires greater than 10 hours driving time for the round trip, in order to comply with UK driving laws overnight accommodation at cost, and a £25 contribution towards food will be charged.  Waiting time above 15 mins for pickup will be charge in accordance with T&C Item 10.

19.  All times given for pick-up and delivery are an estimate. Due to environmental factors, we cannot give an exact time although we do attempt to minimise the length of each journey.

20.  Where necessary we reserve the right to fulfil your order with the help of one or more of our transport partners. Our terms and conditions will still apply.

21.  We withhold the right to charge a non-refundable deposit of £100, or 50% of transport cost (whichever is lower) in the event of cancellation. No refunds will be made in the event of cancellations made within 72hrs of transport.

22.  We will ensure that the 3.5ton horsebox used is in roadworthy condition, taxed, & serviced, and we have Equine breakdown insurance, commercial Care, Custody, & Control insurance, in addition to Public Liability insurance. For horse(s) in our Care, Custody, & Control we will not be liable for any damage or loss above the amount of £10,000 per horse.
